Toyota is setting out to further broaden the appeal of the Land Cruiser 250 in Europe, announcing the 2026 model will be available in two new flavors, including one similar to the 1958 version sold in the US. As one of the better full-size off-roaders on the market, the 250 could be about to get even more popular.
The first new version is the off-road-focused VX. It gets the same classic round headlights as America’s Land Cruiser 1958 and also rocks a distinctive Smoky Blue metallic paint. Included among the upgrades made are roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels, but more importantly, there’s also an electronic locking rear differential, and a front anti-roll bar that can be disconnected, improving wheel articulation.

Elsewhere, the Land Cruiser VX rocks Downhill Assist Control and Crawl Control, in addition to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and a cooled rear console box. For those planning some serious adventures, the VX is the model for them.
The Rest Of The Range
Sitting above the VX in the Land Cruiser 250 range is the VX-L. It includes power-adjustable driver and passenger leather seats with heating and ventilation. Toyota has also added a 14-speaker JBL audio system, a head-up display, a digital rear-view mirror, a sunroof, and 20-inch wheels. Should customers prefer, the VX-L can be configured with a fixed panoramic roof instead of the sunroof. It also ditches the electronic locking rear diff in favor of a Torsen limited-slip differential.
Continuing to sit at the base of the European range is the Land Cruiser 250 TX with 18-inch wheels, fabric upholstery, side steps, mud flaps, and a reversing camera. A slightly more plush version, dubbed the TX-L, is also available, adding synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone air conditioning, and Drive Mode Select.
In Western Europe, the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 is sold exclusively with Toyota’s 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. In Eastern Europe, the new VX and VX-L models can be fitted with either a non-electrified 2.8-liter diesel or a 2.4-liter turbo petrol.
