- Added to the Mazda3 are a set of matrix LED headlights and pedestrian markers.
- The adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition systems now work together.
- Mazda continues to sell the model with two different engine options in Europe.
Several minor updates have been announced for the Mazda3 hatchback and sedan models, though prospective buyers will be hard-pressed to identify any. Far from a mid-life facelift, these are simply small tweaks for the 2027 model year, first launched in Europe and likely to be introduced in other markets soon.
Initially announced in Germany, one of the most significant changes made to the Mazda3 is the adoption of new matrix LED headlights. These lights feature pedestrian marker lights and will reduce their intensity when you’re sitting in traffic to reduce glare.

Mazda has also updated several i-Activsense safety systems used by the Mazda3. For example, the adaptive cruise control now works alongside the traffic sign recognition system, meaning you can transfer to a new detected speed at the touch of a button. Motorcycle detection has also been added to the emergency braking assistant and lane change assistant.
Further Trim Tweaks
Elsewhere, different European grades receive new gunmetal-look highlights through the cabin, although Mazda hasn’t ditched the piano black plastic found around the car’s center console. A new Homura Plus trim level has also been added to the German line-up, featuring a 360-degree camera, parking aid with rear cross-traffic alert, heated black leather seats, and a 12-speaker Bose surround sound system.
No powertrain changes have been made to the Mazda3 for 2027. In Europe, it can be configured with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 140 hp and 176 lb-ft (238 Nm) of torque, mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Those seeking more power can opt for Mazda’s e-Skyactiv X 186 four-cylinder with a mild-hybrid system, producing 186 hp and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque, offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
