• Mugen is selling the updated Fit with a Performance Damper like the Type R.
  • Other updates include a revised front and rear ends and a tweaked cabin.
  • Yellow-tinted fog lights are also available, as is a sports silencer for the exhaust.

Just days after Honda refreshed the updated Fit in Japan, the funky tall hatch has resurfaced in sportier guise, courtesy of Mugen and Honda itself. Mugen goes furthest, throwing in a handful of genuine performance parts, although they certainly won’t turn the Fit into a legitimate Type R.

Mugen’s upgrades are known as the Infinite parts range and start with a tweaked front fascia, including a sporty red splitter and a blacked-out grille for RS-badged versions. Black graphics have also been added to the profile. The door mirrors are available with a dry carbon finish and can be paired with wind deflectors on the side windows.

Changes made to the rear help to inject some purpose into the practical hatchback. These include a black diffuser with red garnish and a chrome-finished tailpipe. The new tailpipe isn’t just for looks either, as it has been paired with a sports silencer to give the car a slightly more inspiring exhaust note.

Mugen is also selling a special Performance Damper, developed in collaboration with Yamaha, for the updated Fit. It first introduced this upgrade on the FK8 Civic Type R, bolting it to the underside of the car to reduce micro-distortions and vibrations. A special set of 17-inch wheels is also available for the Fit, as are new wheel nuts.

As for the cabin, Fit owners can purchase a full set of Mugen-branded floor mats, available in black or red. A piece of carbon fiber trim can also be added to the lower part of the door panel for those who really want to make a statement, as can carbon scuff plates.

There are plenty of options available from Honda itself. For the Fit RS model, these include yellow fog lights, puddle lamps, ambient lighting in the foot wells and door panels, and metal pedal covers.

Tweaks are also offered for the e:HEV X model, including a subtle lip for the rear bumper, a tailgate spoiler, new fog lights, and 15-inch aluminum wheels. Rounding out the accessories are several options for the jacked-up Crosstar version, including fog lights, all-season floor mats, crossbars, and a large roof box.
