- Kia has introduced the 2027 K5, which starts at $27,690.
- Pricing climbs by $200, but you get nothing for the extra cash.
- Sedan drops range-topping trim and gains new package.
Sedans have largely fallen by the wayside, but the Kia K5 is experiencing a surge in interest amid high gas prices. Through August, year-to-date sales were up 11.2% to 52,611 units.
The K5 is now rolling into 2027 with higher prices and a handful of tweaks. The big news is the cost of entry has increased from $27,490 to $27,690, a modest gain of $200.

That isn’t the only notable development, as the range-topping K5 EX has been dropped. It used to start at $34,990, but the lineup now maxes out with the $33,790 K5 GT.
Furthermore, the K5 GT-Line gains the new Convenience Package at $700. It adds features such as power folding mirrors, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, a driver’s seat memory function, and a 10-way power front passenger seat.
That sounds like a lot for $700, but it requires the $2,200 GT-Line Premium Package. This one adds a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, LED interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch wheels with a gloss black finish.
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine resides under the hood, offering 186 hp (139 kW / 189 PS) and 179 lb-ft (242 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and can be paired with an optional all-wheel drive system on the GT-Line.
The front-wheel drive variant returns up to 26 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. Adding all-wheel drive drops those numbers to 23 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.
Buyers looking for more power can upgrade to the K5 GT, which has a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) of torque. It’s paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive. Despite this, the GT has the same fuel economy rating as the all-wheel drive variant.
