- A diver found this modified Chevy Corvette at the bottom of a Georgia river.
- Internet sleuths discovered the two-tone Grand Sport was reported stolen in 2020.
- While the car is covered in mud, it looks to have survived the water remarkably well.
Almost six years after a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport was reported stolen in Waynesboro, Georgia, the car has been recovered. However, it wasn’t found hidden away in a garage as you may expect and was instead pulled out of a river. It survived its underwater grave incredibly well.
The story of this C7 Corvette starts in December 2020, when it was declared stolen in an Instagram post. The car had been modified, most notably with a black and blue wrap, making it easily identifiable from the thousands of other similar Corvettes out there. Up until late last week, it seemed as though the car had disappeared into thin air, never to be found again.

A diver from Rapid Compassion Collective then randomly stumbled upon the car at the bottom of a Georgia river during a routine dive. It was pulled out of the dirty water, covered in grime, but still instantly recognizable, wearing the same sticker on the windshield it had when it was reported stolen six years ago.
Incredibly, the two-tone wrap has remained intact despite the car seemingly spending years at the bottom of the river, covered in mud and silt. However, there are some obvious signs of water intrusion.
You’ll notice the headlights are now half-filled with water, and the cabin was also flooded. After years of fish calling the interior of this Corvette home, we can only imagine the type of irreparable damage that has been done to the car’s electronics and other onboard systems. Although the exterior body panels have survived quite well, this C7 definitely won’t be returning to the roads.
Exactly how and when the car ended up in the river remains a mystery, but the most likely scenario is that whoever stole the car ditched it in the water after having their fun with it. What’ll happen to its next remains anyone’s guess.
