Rare Ferrari Daytona Spyder To Go Under The Hammer

With just 121 units built, out of which 18 were offered in European-specification, it’s no wonder that this classic ride is expected to fetch anywhere between $2 and $3 million.

Listed by RM Sotheby’s at its upcoming Amelia Island auction on March 12, the Daytona Spyder 365 GTS/4 chassis number 15369 was produced in 1973 and delivered brand new to the official prancing horse dealer in Beirut, Lebanon.

The car, originally finished in Giallo Fly over Nero and equipped with factory air conditioning, was presumed to have been owned by a member of a local royal family, but this information hasn’t been confirmed by the vendor.

Throughout its lifetime, the Daytona Spyder 365 GTS/4 was relocated to the United States, in 1978, in the ownership of Carl Corzan of South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, who drove it extensively, along with a lady friend. The two of them had multiple accidents in the car, with the last one noted in 1994, when the fuel tank was ruptured and the rear half sustained fire damage.

Repairs included factory nose and tail, NOS fuel tank, rear inner structure and parts of the front, along with the realignment of the suspension. Work was carried by recognized Ferrari specialists and the vehicle was brought to factory specifications.

In the mid ’90s, the Daytona was sold to the UK, only to be taken back to the U.S. and into the ownership of its present custodian, a “highly regarded collector“, as the vendor states.

Currently, the car is in original color scheme, cosmetically restored to concours condition, and has an original numbers-matching engine. It was major serviced and a fresh black interior was installed recently. Needless to say that the Daytona is offered with complete books and tools.
