If you had to choose between a full head-on collision and narrowly avoiding a crash, but still having to endure some damage, we already know which scenario you’d going with.

The fact that this car got sideswiped was actually one of the least painful outcomes under these circumstances. You certainly wouldn’t want to crash head-on into another car at 100 km/h (62 mph)…

According to the description of the video (sprinkled with a little bit of Google magic), the blue sedan was a Toyota Carina and its driver had absolutely no reason to think that he had any sort of room to overtake at that junction.

In fact, visibility was great so there’s no telling what the guy thought. Maybe it was lack of common sense, not paying attention or a combination of both – what’s certain is that the owner of the dashcam had to pull over for 5 minutes and collect himself after that type of scare.

If the cars had collided, it would have ended badly for everybody involved, since it would have happened at nearly twice the speed EuroNCAP tests its passenger cars.

We’re certainly glad everyone was alright and that we didn’t need to warn you guys about how disturbing this footage may have been. Still, quite the close shave.
