Truth to be said, we’ve spied the upcoming Porsche 991 -that’s Porsche talk for the next generation of the 911- more times than we can remember these past few months. In fact, just earlier today we brought you some fresh spy shots of the 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible.

So what’s new about these latest scoop pictures? Well, we get a clearer look at both the regular coupe and convertible models of the 911 series without any of that annoying body camouflage.

However, Porsche’s engineers have retained the fake surrounds on the headlamps and taillights to confuse us (insert tongue-in-cheek comment here) on the appearance of the 991.

If you’d like to compare the 991 with the current 997 series, check out our gallery below.

We’ll just note that the new 911 is slightly larger than its predecessor and that the entry-level Carrera gets a new 3.4-liter flat-six with around 350-horses while the sportier Carrera S features a 3.8-liter unit delivering about 400 ponies. Both models will be available with a new 7-speed manual gearbox or an optional PDK double-clutch automatic transmission.
