Have you ever tried to sit in a Ferrari at an auto show? Sure you tried but did you actually manage to get pass the protective ropes surrounding Maranello’s creations? Unless you make close to seven figures a year, the answer is probably no.

On the other hand, Germany’s premium automakers have a much more lax approach to consumers even if most cannot afford to buy their top sports car offerings. And all for good reason as being able to dream about it pays off for the brand and its name in the long run.

Mind you, we’re not only talking about sitting in their cars but in some cases, even driving them. Following a similar event in 2011, Audi is re-introducing its #WantAnR8 Campaign where fans can tweet for the chance to get behind the wheel of a 2012 R8 for a day.

The brand with the four rings launched the campaign with a new TV spot that informs viewers about the Twitter hashtag (#).

The 2012 edition of the #WantAnR8 Twitter contest runs from March 20, 2012 through October 29, 2012. There will be four entry periods with two winners selected in each round. The eight finalists will the option to drive the R8 on the track at the Audi Sportscar Experience in Sonoma, California or have an R8 delivered to their home.
