Last weekend, the luxurious Grand Hotel Villa d’Este overseeing the scenic shores of Lake Como in northern Italy played host to the annual Concorso d’Eleganza vintage-car event.
On display at the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este were a range of classic cars and motorcycles as well as several new concept models including the Aston Martin AM310 that previews the brand’s replacement for the DBS and the BMW Zagato Coupe based on the Z4 roadster, both of which made their world premiere at the prestigious show.
“We experienced a high-calibre event with a unique field of competitors,” said Karl Baumer, President of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and Director of BMW Group Classic. “We are particularly delighted at the splendid turnout of almost 6,000 visitors on Sunday,” he added.
Like every year, judges and visitors vote for their favorite classic and prototype model of the show.
The winners of this year’s event were a 1933 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS that claimed both the Trofeo BMW Group presented by the jury and the Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este given by the public and the Alfa Romeo 4C that secured the title in the Concept Cars and Prototypes category, while a Gilera 500 won the Motorcycle Concorso.
