This is our first official look at the upcoming Volvo S60 Polestar, which is rumored to be a high-performance version of the stylish compact executive sedan prepared in conjunction with the Swedish firm’s tuning and racing partner Polestar.

For the time being, Volvo tells us only this about the car: “Introducing the Volvo S60 Polestar. Debuting June 16th at the Gothenburg City Race. Stay tuned for more.”

You may remember that we recently nabbed some spy shots of the S60 Polestar while testing in Scandinavia. Swedish media had said at the time that the sporty version of the S60 might get some serious grunt under its hood through either a tweaked version of its current 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six or the Yamaha-built V8 from the XC90.

Currently, the fastest model in the S60 family is the T6 powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six delivering 300hp (304PS) to all-four wheels for a zero to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

While the drivetrain details remain a mystery for now, the single teaser image shows that the S60 Polestar will be tricked out with a new body kit and a lowered suspension along with a new set of alloy wheels.

More to come in the next few days, so stay tuned.

Thanks to Carlos A. for the heads up!
