The Paris Auto Show is expected to make a comeback next year in the form of the “Paris Automotive Week” event. The biennial show was last held in Paris in October 2018, featuring numerous interesting premieres. As a reminder, in March 2020, it was reported that Paris Auto Show wouldn’t continue in its current form, before being completely canceled due to the pandemic.

According to Autocar, the Paris Auto Show will merge with Equip Auto – a large event focused on aftersales and connected mobility services. Together they will form the new Paris Automotive Week aiming at both consumers and companies. Everyone will be welcome to visit although the two sections will be divided, with only automotive professionals having access to both.

The Paris Automotive Week will be held in Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, between the 17th and the 23rd of October 2022. For those who are going to attend, there will be a series of activities including talks and test drives. At the same time, a “bespoke digital platform” will allow everyone around the world to experience the premieres remotely from their device.

The pandemic hasn’t been kind on auto shows causing a series of cancellations over the past two years and changing the automotive landscape with more digital premieres. Even before COVID-19, major automakers had expressed their lack of interest in traditional auto shows, opting for their own events, so the future doesn’t look bright for the organizers.

The show in Paris was one of the largest automotive-related events in the world together with Geneva, Frankfurt, and Detroit. We don’t know which automakers will attend the 2022 Paris Automotive Week but one thing is for certain – the Paris Expo won’t be as busy as it used to be. For a good measure, the 2018 Paris Auto Show attracted 260 brands and more than 10,000 journalists from 103 countries to visit the 125,000 m2 (1,350,000 sq ft) of the exhibition.
