Nissan is trying to get a piece of the London Black Cab pie with a new version of its NV200 taxi van, which has already been chosen as an official cab for Tokyo and the exclusive New York City ‘Taxi of Tomorrow’.

Following the release of the first pictures of the NV200 London Taxi, Nissan has now dropped two new videos of the six-passenger model that hopes to compete against the traditional LTI TX4 and the more modern Mercedes Vito in the city’s 22,600-strong cab market.

The London Taxi version has been re-engineered to comply with local regulations that require cabs to have a tight 25ft (7.6m) turning circle and be able to accommodate a wheelchair passenger.

The UK market-only model will go on sale next year offered with a 1.5-liter turbo-charged diesel available in power outputs of 89hp and 110hp, while Nissan is also readying a pure electric model that should follow by 2014.
