After its world premiere at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit last month, the cosmetically and mechanically updated 2014 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee is heading to the Geneva Auto Show (March 7-17) for its European debut.

The refreshed Grand Cherokee will be introduced in the European market in the third quarter 2013, and will be offered in the Laredo, Limited, Overland and Summit trim levels, with V6 diesels, and a choice of V6 and V8 petrol engines.

The jump across the pond brings the same changes as with the American model and which are highlighted by the redesigned front and rear ends, the updated interior that gains a new UConnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, and the introduction of an 8-speed automatic transmission for all petrol and diesel engine variants that promises to reduce consumption and emissions.

Other notable changes include the addition of more standard amenities for the Summit trim, a new Selec-Speed Control that allows the driver to adjust the speed of the vehicle, both uphill and downhill, using the steering wheel paddle shifters, and new standard safety contents such as ‘Forward Collision Warning’ with ‘Crash Mitigation’.
