The estate version of the European market Honda Civic named the Tourer will make its world premiere earlier than anticipated at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, the Japanese carmaker confirmed.

Honda, which previewed the Honda Civic Tourer through a thinly disguised concept model at the Geneva Salon this past March, said the car will go on sale in Europe where it will rival the new VW Golf Variant, Seat Leon ST and their like, in early 2014.

Besides confirming the time and place for the introduction of the Civic Tourer, Honda also released a group of photos of a camouflaged prototype and announced that the car will feature a world first in the form of a rear Adaptive Damper System featuring three settings – comfort, normal and dynamic. Honda noted that the system has been developed “to enhance stability and comfort under the varying load and driving conditions that the Civic Tourer is likely to experience”.

“By introducing the technology in this format, we expect many customers will be able to experience the benefits of this advanced system,” said Adrian Killham, Large Project Leader.
