Welcome to the wild part of our site, where we bring you news that has a very slim chance of materializing, but is interesting enough to be mentioned. So there’s this article on The Detroit News that, aside from talking about VL-Automotive’s ambition to start putting V8s under the hood of the Fisker Karma (of which they sold nine so far), also mentions the possibility of doing the same for the Tesla Model S.

He didn’t state it directly, and it was more of an affirmative answer to the question regarding the conversion also being available for the Model S, to which Lutz replied “Yes.”

We are quite reserved as to making statements about this, but we will note that the Tesla is a very different car to the Karma, in that it’s not built like a conventional car that has room for a prop shaft to drive the rear wheels, being designed as a rear-engined, rear-driven electric car from the very onset.

Moreover, if you remove the heavy battery that’s placed on the floor and bestows it with the renowned handling characteristics it’s been praised for, the weight distribution and center of gravity will be all messed up.

What do you say: is there reason behind it, or just mere words thrown around for the heck of it by Lutz?
