We learn from German news site Local that a 50 year-old man from the German city of Cologne was spotted trapped inside a Porsche Cayenne. It was discovered that the man had actually entered the vehicle with the intent to rid it of valuables, when the central locking engaged and the doors wouldn’t budge – he reportedly tried to force one of the doors via leg power, but it was obviously not enough…

People eventually called the emergency services to say there was a man trapped in the car. Apparently, even the firefighters showed up to free the man from inside the car, using brute force, but the owner reportedly showed up just in time and let the stranded thief out.

However, the source doesn’t say if the Cayenne in question had any kind of security system, or if the central locking simply activated accidentally.

Do all cars not have some kind of either manually- or button-operated override in order to unlock the doors. Is it possible that the thief simply didn’t press any of the right buttons? Feel free to comment below.
