All reviews of current Subaru models (bar the WRX STI) follow a pattern that always alludes to the non-offensive styling, the improving interior quality with some parts still looking like they’re from the early 1990s and cliché quotations about all-wheel drive, ruggedness plus the manufacturer having its own niche in the market.

The same is true for Consumer Reports’ review of the 2015 Subaru Legacy and Outback models. Both are cars you buy with a specific purpose in mind – the Outback if you like mountain biking and do it frequently, and the Legacy if you’re reticent around snow and only go off-road pedaling  occasionally.

Like many other manufacturers that keep their product consistent, Subaru too has grown into somewhat of an institution. It’s not as big or widely-appealing as VW, but it does have a loyal band of followers that should be on the rise, along with the quality of their products.
