The recently priced B-Class Electric Drive (or ED) is kind of Mercedes’ answer to the BMW i3. It’s a very different looking car, and one that is far more conventional in appearance than its Bavarian rival.

Based on the B-Class minivan, the ED is the sole variant of the vehicle offered in the States; it’s currently the only such offering available from any manufacturer.

CNET’s Brian Cooley seemed pretty impressed by what the car has to offer. His review is the first one we’ve seen in video form, and it portrays the B-Class ED in as a unique vehicle in its niche with plenty of qualities and only a handful of drawbacks.

Of the latter, it’s worthwhile to mention the limited autonomy and lack of a range extender option like BMW has, as well as the fact that, despite having a Tesla-engineered powertrain, it lacks fast charging capability (a feature most modern, mainstream EVs have).
