So, imagine yourself driving a 2013MY Cadillac SRX and for whatever reason, you stomp on the gas pedal to accelerate but nothing happens for three or four seconds. It might be a giggly thing to watch on the drag strip, but the SRX wasn’t built for that; it was made for families and that’s the last thing you need if you’re getting ready to overtake another vehicle on the highway.

GM says that the problem is connected to a computer program that controls the transmission and may appear on certain model year 2013 Cadillac SRX vehicles manufactured from May 29, 2012, through June 26, 2013, and fitted with 3.6-liter V6 engines.

“In the affected vehicles, in certain driving situations, there may be a three to four second lag in acceleration due to the transmission control module (TCM) programming,” GM told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). “A three to four second lag in acceleration may increase the risk of crash,” read the filling.

GM said that it is not aware of any crashes related to this issue.

The Detroit automaker has not yet provided a notification schedule for the recall to the NHTSA, but it will notify owners of the affected cars and reprogram the transmission control module when it comes up with a fix.

The recall is for 56,400 units of the 2013MY SRX, 50,591 of which are from the United States, 3,306 from Canada, 367 in Mexico and 2,123 in other markets around the world.
