Bugatti Veyron Replacement to Be Lighter, Have 1,500 PS

The Bugatti Veyron started out is life as this exciting hypercar with 1,001 PS that everybody talked about, but that’s not the case anymore. Now, we’ve learnt to expect to see one at each major motor show with a new paint scheme and name, masquerading as something fresh.

However, it’s all finally set to change, as there are just 20 cars to go before the planned production run is complete, and the replacement will not only be more powerful, but it will be lighter too – we hope they don’t pull a Zonda on us and just keep making it…

According to Bloomberg, the Veyron replacement may be unveiled next year, with more power (that could come courtesy of electric boost) and less weight. It may be pushed back until early 2016, though, but we are promised (by VW design boss Walter da Silva) that it will be “art.”

The current Veyron’s specs are nowhere near as impressive as when it was first launched, even with the extra power it’s received over the years. That’s why the next one is rumored to get 1,500 PS, while at the same time shedding some weight – it will never have the impact that the first-gen model had in its day, but at least we’ll talk about the brand because we want to…

To give you an idea of whom this car is addressing, we quote Wolfgang Duerheimer, Bugatti CEO, who said back in July that “the Bentley customer on average owns 8 cars. The average Bugatti customer has about 84 cars, 3 jets and one yacht.”
