After stunning us in concept form at the New York Auto Show, the 2016 Honda Civic appears to be taking a striking new production shape if these images are anything to go by.

Over at the CivicX forum and Gizmag, alleged patent images of the 2016 Civic were published over the weekend.

The coupe sticks faithfully to the concept, minus the bonkers rear spoiler that will probably be reserved for the Si model, with its full-length rear lights that wrap around the trunk lid and a similar front fascia. The sedan, which is set to go on sale this fall before the coupe and future five-door hatchback, definitely looks more traditional to the side and rear. But it looks to be a much more adventurous design than the outgoing ninth-generation model.

Honda insisted this month in New York the 2016 Civic would get a serious injection of fun and desirability. Beyond the design, the new Civic would be the first North American-bound Honda to get their new 1.5-liter turbo VTEC engine.

Head over to CivicX to take a look at more of the images and comparisons to the concept.
