The Goodwood Festival of Speed is not the kind of event you usually associate with the smoky, sideways action of drifting, yet it has just been made an official category at this year’s edition. Drift cars were present at past shows, but not as part of an official class.

The organizers have arranged for ‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett and Ken Block to be present for the entertainment of the crowds. Block will be driving his 845hp “Hoonicorn” Ford Mustang, the all-wheel drive one he had modified and you got to see in Gymkhana Seven.

Other names set to please the crowds are Ireland’s James Deane, driving a custom Nissan 200SX S14, Poland’s Piotr Wiecek in a 1,000 hp R34 Skyline and Kuba Przygonski in a GT86, Norway’s Joachim Waargaard in a BMW M4 and Luke Flink of Australia driving his LBP PS13 V8.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from June 25 – 28.
