Surprise, surprise, the upcoming Lamborghini hypercar will allegedly be built in very limited numbers. Who would’ve thought?

You might remember us saying that Lamborghini is prepping a something special to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next year and that the thing will target the likes of the McLaren P1 and other super-machines built to bend time and space with their sheer performance.

Well, apparently Lamborghini showcased the car at Pebble Beach to a high-profile crowd in the form of a hologram and, according to Yahoo Autos, only 20 examples of the future automobile will be manufactured.

That’s just Lambo keeping up with tradition, especially as past bull-branded super-limited hypercars were built in exclusive numbers. Really exclusive numbers. That said, there’s no shadow of doubt the future car will look the part and with its limited availability it will be an expensive beast as well, with prices allegedly starting at the $1.2 million mark. Still, for that kind of cash at least it will be more exclusive than the P1, LaFerrari and 918.

In a statement for Yahoo Autos, Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s chief executive, said that these kind of limited, hardcore automobiles work both as a branding exercise and a way for the company’s engineers to flex beyond the usual daily rigors by building street-legal machines: “We want to showcase innovations…there are still a lot of ideas in our heads. We don’t want to do concept cars for the museum. We want to give customers the potential to enjoy the cars on the road.”
