Child seat manufacturer Evenflo is announcing that its best selling line of products will come with a beeping new feature to tackle hot car deaths. Basically, the child seat has a sensor that knows a baby is in it and it will cause a beep to remind its parents of his or her presence.

From this point on, this article could go two ways: one, I could talk about how you feeling like you need this for your child could mean you’re an irresponsible person. If you have a tendency to leave your kid in your car and forget about him/her, needing a child seat that has a plug for your OBD socket that beeps to alert you…

The second way this could be viewed is that it’s genuinely useful and may prevent some unwanted situations, but really you should just try to be a good parent and not endorse this extra safety net that nobody asked for – who knows when it may end up being mandatory if too many people ‘find it useful.’

Just buy a regular child seat, pardon my rant, and don’t prove the creators of this one right in inferring parents have short attention spans and should rely on this – it’s basically tech masking their sloppiness.
