If you’ve ever had a problem with car dealerships, this comedy sketch might just make you want to save up and buy a Tesla just because you can do it online.
Remember the last time you ordered a couple of nice T-Shirts off the Internet? Or maybe a new mobile phone, tablet or Desktop PC? Buying online is certainly the easiest way to purchase things nowadays, though you shouldn’t tell that to the vast majority of car dealerships.
TruTV’s Adam Ruins Everything came up with a really informative and funny sketch about how car dealerships are actually bad for you, and I have to admit, he does have some pretty strong legal arguments.
The fact that dealerships are heavily regulated comes as no surprise, but in terms of productivity, it would surely be a lot easier if you could just design and order your car online using nothing but your browser, especially since it would be a little bit cheaper.
The video is surely worth watching, especially for the humor, but they do kind of dance around an issue that’s not mentioned at all – namely test drives.
How do you buy a car without driving it first? A lot of people actually appreciate it when the salesman tells them everything they need to know about their new purchase and shows them how every feature works inside.
You can’t exactly get tactile information about a car if you’re hiding behind a small screen, so unless manufacturers figure out a way to give customers a perfect Virtual Reality experience when buying a car (probably many years away), you still need to head down to a dealership so that you can get a feel for the product.
