If the best part of having a drivers license is to have fun behind the wheel, then we could easily argue that somebody like Daniil Kvyat doesn’t even need to bother with getting one.

Sure, being able to drive your own car on public roads is a must, but in terms of fun and excitement, Kvyat definitely gets plenty of that when behind the wheel of his Red Bull Racin Formula 1 car.

There’s something fishy about this footage, though, isn’t it? Sure, some of it looks legit and there’s no reason to doubt the Russians agreeing to make a slight spectacle of having their only F1 driver ace his driving exam, but come on, did he really give it the beans on his first try in that Lada?

A fairly obvious answer would be ‘No’, and that he probably already passed the test before they filmed that particular segment – thought it doesn’t change the fact that it really would be very cool for new drivers (or just about anybody) to see one of Formula One’s best young talents do what he does best before their very eyes.

After a rough start this year, Kvyat gradually grew into his role at Red Bull and started collecting points and working on becoming a faster and more consistent driver. In fact, he did such a great job with that, he currently sits 7th overall in the Driver standings, 4 points ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo.

Before the season, very few people would have guessed that Kvyat could out-perform Ricciardo in any way, and there were even rumblings that the Toro Rosso drivers could factor in Red Bull’s 2016 line-up decision, but after Kvyat took off (both literally and figuratively) in the second half of the season, those discussions have become mute.
