Subaru’s New 3-Row Crossover That Replaces Tribeca Is Coming In 2018

Subaru on Monday confirmed fresh details about its upcoming three-row crossover model that will be built in the USA at its Indian production plant.

The Japanese manufacturer said that the brand-new model is expected to roll out in North American showrooms in the beginning of 2018, adding that it will be a “larger vehicle than the Tribeca, with full third-row capability”, which means it will offer seating for seven or less likely, eight passengers.

A name has yet to be given to the mid-size crossover, but Subaru stated that it will “likely carry a name synonymous with outdoor adventure, consistent with the company’s other successful crossovers; Outback, Forester and Crosstrek”.

The new crossover will become Subaru’s fourth U.S.-produced model, after the Legacy, Outback and the replacements for the Impreza sedan and five-door hatch, with the Japanese brand confirming that the next-generation of their compact model that was previewed at the recent Tokyo Motor Show via the Impreza Concept, will enter production in late 2016.

Thomas Doll, President and COO of Subaru of America commented on the announcement: “We have enjoyed record sales for seven consecutive years and the introduction of an all-new, American-made Impreza followed by an all-new larger 3-row crossover will help keep our sales momentum strong.”
