While still using wood in the construction of its cars, Morgan has confirmed that, from 2019, it will implement a massive shift from its traditional roots.

Thanks to 6 million pounds worth of investments from the likes of Potenza Technology, Delta Motorsport and the Advanced Propulsion Centre, Morgan’s current factory in the UK will be overhauled to cater for electric and hybrid powertrains.

The small automaker believes that, with the creation of these alternative powertrains, it will experience a jump in demand and therefore need to expand its workforce.

Later this year, the EV3, an electric version of the 3-Wheeler, will hit the market. It is yet unknown however whether future electric and hybrid models will be all-new cars or instead just variants of existing ones.

Either way, Morgan’s managing director, Steve Morris, said: “This is a very exciting project for us. We have been involved in the research and development of new propulsion technology since the inception of the LifeCar project almost 10 years ago. We are now ready to develop the best hybrid and electric drivetrain solutions for production implementation before the end of the decade.”
