According to most scientists, dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago but in the UK last week, drivers got the shock of their lives after being stopped by a 20-foot Triceratops.
Pictured blocking the road in the small town of Godshill on the Isle of Wight, the dinosaur, affectionately now known as Godshilla, of course isn’t real and is instead a prop from a local company called Island Gems.
It’s owned by Martin Simpson but strangely, he didn’t put it on the road, sparking suggestions that it was stolen and placed there by a group of local pranksters.
Apparently, a group of cheerful Christmas revelers hung tinsel and tied balloons around the neck of the Triceratops prop during the holiday season and seemingly decided to step things up a notch by blocking traffic with it.
Simpson took it all in his stride however, telling local Isle of Wight County Press “It’s great people are talking about it, but I wouldn’t want to encourage anybody to cause a hazard for traffic. We thought there must be a speed limit for triceratops or something, that we were breaking. But they just wanted to have their picture taken with it!”
