Amid the Takata airbag inflators recall and VW’s emission scandal, General Motors has announced its own separate campaign for several SUVs and pickup trucks.

Certain units of the 2015 and 2016MY Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 2500/3500 Heavy Duty Pickup Trucks and Chevrolet Tahoe PPVs have a problem with the brake pedal, which might become loose or inoperative.

If this happens, then the driver may be unable to safely stop the vehicle using the brake pedal, increasing the risk of a crash. The manufacturer states that a loose pedal might also interfere with the accelerator. General Motors says it’s not aware of any injuries or crashes related to this condition.

To rectify the problem, the brands’ dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the bolt, at an increased torque. The fix will be made free of charge.

There are approximately 473,000 units of the aforementioned models that suffer from this condition, out of which 426,573 are located in the United States and 46,837 in Canada.

GM has yet to announce an exact notification schedule.
