V12 Lamborghinis have always been scary things, but the stripped Aventador SV is a whole new thing of scary.

Lamborghini took the Aventador and applied the familiar Super Veloce recipe: more power, less weight. This translates into 740hp (750PS) and minus 50kg off the kerb weight figure which bring the power-to-weight ratio to an eye-watering 2.03kg/hp. The new aero agenda now means that the SV offers 170 per cent more downforce over the standard Aventador. One hundred and seventy.

Lamborghini then added some trick magnetorheological dampers and their own Adaptive Steering system in order to keep this beast under control. The performance on offer is just insane, with Lamborghini taking the Aventador SV to Nurburgring and posting a lap time of 6:59.73, which makes it only two seconds slower than the hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder.

Motor Trend samples this winged devil on their latest episode of Ignition, trying to figure out if the new SV is indeed the best Lamborghini in the history of the brand.
