While we still have a long way before we get to see the Italian SUV, this rendering might point us to the right direction.

Dubbed the Stelvio, it is going to be Alfa’s first modern crossover and its long-overdue answer to the BMW X3s and Audi Q5s of this world.

Indav Design
imagines the Stelvio basically as a high-riding, five-door version of the Giulia. Since the two models are destined to share the same platform, it’s safe to say that the new crossover will share most of the visual elements that debuted with the Giulia, including the latest version of the iconic front grille.

The curvy bodywork with the sloping roofline almost brings to mind the larger Maserati Levante. Alfa’s new SUV will be the brand’s second all-new model and perhaps the most commercially important as it will enter a very competitive segment with established opposition.

Expect to see the same petrol and diesel powertrains with the Giulia, while a range-topping 510hp Quadrifoglio Verde version is also on the cards, as a response to the Porsche Macan.

According to the latest reports Alfa Romeo is going to reveal the Stelvio SUV in early- to mid-2017 but we won’t be surprised if the company decides it needs a bit more time.

Thanks to Indav Design for the renders!
