The next-gen Discovery is already under way, and a test mule has just been caught during testing it .

Popping up in the news on two previous occasions, the SUV will adopt styling cues from the Discovery Sport, which in turn was nspired by the Discovery Vision Concept shown in 2014.

Even so, it will retain its boxy overall shape and be built on the aluminum monocoque chassis of the more upscale Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

The study’s modern design, joined by numerous gadgets and amenities that count a laser head-up display and a large central screen, with touch function, for the infotainment system, will influence the cabin, along with higher quality materials and the latest safety features, while still offer seating for seven.

JLR’s Ingenium family of petrol and diesel engines will be part of the package, which will also include a hybrid powertrain. Moreover, unlike the current model, which is offered in North America under the LR4 moniker, the next-gen will use the Discovery badge on all markets. An exact reveal date has yet to be released, but it could be unveiled by the year’s end.
