It’s the ultimate Miata for those who believe that Mazda’s two-seater roadster is only a turbocharger away to reach perfection.

With a total production run of 5,428 cars the Mazdaspeed Miata added a very welcomed boost (no pun intended) to the performance of the popular roadster.

This 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5 has only 44,000 miles on the clocks and features several common mild upgrades to make it a bit faster than regular models, including a new intake, intercooler and a boost raised from 8.5PSI to 9PSI thanks to a Turbosmart Boost Controller.

The only official turbocharged Miata is a much sought-after and relatively rare model as Mazda only offered it between 2004 and 2005. Apart from the turbocharged 1.8-litre engine which originally made 178hp and 166lb ft of torque, Mazda also upgraded the internals of the six-speed manual gearbox, clutch and drivetrain parts to support the output bump.

The body looks straight like an arrow, with the current owner claiming no history of accident or repair. The Velocity Red Mica paint is also original, with the owner saying that every body panel measures within the normal range of the paint on a paint thickness gauge.

The stock 17-inch Racing Hart alloy wheels have some minor curb rush, with the soft top appearing to be in great condition. The good news continue inside, with all the special Mazdaspeed bits still in their place and the cabin looking in great shape.

Most of the upgrades fitted come for the Flyin’ Miata list of accessories. The car has covered 800 miles in the last six months and it’s currently auctioned over at Bring A Trailer. If you were looking for a special Mazda MX-5 in what looks like a great condition, you probably found it.
