NYPD Crushing Confiscated Illegal Bikes And Quads Will Irk You

May the God of speed watch over these motorcycles, ATVs and scooters, because the NYPD bulldozers sure didn’t.

In an attempt to get rid of the illegal all-terrain-vehicles from the streets of Big Apple, the New York city government live fed a video showing the destruction of seized off-road motorcycles, ATVs and scooters.

The vehicles were lined up between NYPD barriers and crushed by two bulldozers, Fox News reports, quoting NYPD Commissioner William Bratton when saying that nearly 700 bikes were confiscated this year – many operated by unlicensed “nitwits” who weren’t even wearing helmets.

According to the City of New York Government’s Facebook page, mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner Bratton (who waved a checkered flag before kicking off the proceedings) have repeatedly said that illegal all-terrain vehicles found on the streets of New York will be confiscated and destroyed. They even came up with the #UseItAndLoseIt hashtag.

Although the action carried out by the officials might be praised by some NY residents, many commentators on the video considered it a “waste”, determining the public office to come up with an explanation to one post:

“Hi, Terrell. Thank you for your question — you and several others have flagged this. We checked with NYPD and here’s what we can tell you. These vehicles are illegal in the City of New York. We are committed to making the streets of our city completely safe. That means leaving no opportunity for these things to find their way back to our roads and further endanger our fellow New Yorkers. This is the same reason we destroy the guns we confiscate. The metal from these vehicles is recycled after they are crushed.”

Anyone who lives around NYC and deals with these low-class people tearing up the streets with these things will say “good-riddance”

ok, so punish the riders, not the bikes.

  • smartacus

all the other crimes have been solved already?

      You sir win the prize!

There are two Yamahas leaning against the barrier. The one on the left looks like a YZ, which is definitely not street legal. The one on the right, however, is an enduro bike with lights and blinkers. So how many of those got chunked in and crushed for no reason? Just seems like a huge waste.

    • Sébastien

not to mention why would it need two bulldozer ? remember gas, CO2 etc

    Politician are really pathetic. A
coward media move probably followed by fund raising.

  • Why not sell them as spare parts and make money???

    • Ken Lyns

Or auction them like other asset seizures? It’s absolutely a publicity stunt, akin to those “drugs on the table” press conferences whenever crime in a community is believed to be on the rise.

  • You_Started_It

I can’t bring myself to watch it.

De Blasio is a communist. [an actual one] What else would you expect? They let people run naked in the streets, and MEN in little girl’s bathrooms, but want to limit the size of soda you can buy!

Liberalism is a mental disorder, and a cancer on all of humanity!
