Audi Really GIFs New 2017 A5 Coupe

With less than two weeks left for the debut of the new A5 and S5 Coupes on June 2, Audi is boosting their online campaign with new animated pictures revealing bits and pieces of the car.

There’s nothing really new, though, as the teasers simply confirm what we already knew about the car’s design through our spy photos over the past year, and which sums up to a typical Audi-style evolution of the A5’s exterior design and the adoption of the new A4’s interior highlighted by Ingolstadt’s fully-digital Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster. Do note that the cropped picture of the dash with the dancing Elvis figurine and the auxiliary instruments is from an older Audi, not the new A5.

All next-gen A5s, including the Coupe that will come out first, followed by the Convertible and the five-door Sportback within the next year, are based on the B9 components of the latest A4 riding on the VW Group’s MLB Evo platform.

Powertrains will closely mirror those of the A4, with North America getting a gasoline 2.0-liter turbocharged four in the entry-level model and a turbocharged 349hp (354PS) 3.0-liter TFSI V6 in the S5. Europeans will also get a selection of diesels.

Further up the line and down the road, the range will be crowned by an RS5 with a turbocharged (and possibly, electro-charged) V6 with around 500 horses to compete with the Mercedes-AMG C63 and BMW M4.

Audi- Leading the way with unrefined high-tech features.
They have been and always will be the car to own until the warranty ends…

Add in the rest of the German stalwarts, i.e, Mercedes and BMW.

And some people still wonder why the rate of depreciation for these brands are some of the highest in the industry.

    • Kash

Welcome to the world of Luxury cars. Aside from Lexus you don’t wanna own any kind of luxury car once the warranty runs out, that’s why so many of them are leased and not bought.

      • Bo Hanan

Kash, you always respond to comments here as if you’re an automotive expert here to enlightening us all. You’re not, and were not idiots. Give it a rest already.

        • Kash

I’ve never thought of myself as an expert in cars because there is still a lot I don’t know, but cars have been a major part of my life from the time I could walk and now they’re part of my career. I’ve never thought of anyone as an idiot, i have found a couple people to be annoying though. However you seem to be acting like you know all about me, as if you’re an expert.

          • Bo Hanan

I know you seem to troll my responses on this website like you don’t have a life outside of this website.

          • Kash

Lol. Yeah I sought you out to troll and annoy you the same way I do the Lincoln super fan who can’t stand seeing his favorite brand being criticized. Cars are part of my career, a major part, so i have to stay up to date on them, they’re also a major passion of mine. I constantly check this site, a couple architecture blogs as well, there’s a few interior design magazines and blogs i follow as well, among others. Being self employed means I work 24/7, even while sitting here with strep throat that’s been with me for the last week I’m still working. I never had a problem with you and I’m still not sure what yours is with me but I don’t really care either. I made a simple joke on one of your comments about car reliability, and then all of a sudden you went off on me, but i’ll take you up on your offer to go our different ways.
