Automakers are known to come up with various products unrelated to the car industry, from watches to perfumes and from clothes to toys.

This time, Audi has its eyes on smartphone wireless charging for two particular devices: Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, with a new case, which costs £35 ($45) in the United Kingdom.

Apple MFI certified, the case works in conjunction with the Audi Phone Box, which can be ordered as a standalone option from £325 ($420), as part of the Technology Pack, and features a lacquered polycarbonate finish that is said to be “robust and durable”, while protecting against light knocks and scratches.

The brand with the four rings states that once the Qi-enabled cover is fitted to the iOS-operating smartphones, these can be placed in the center console to start the charging process, without the need to plug in a separate cable via the USB port. The feature also works outside of the car on any base station that has Qi functionality, and thanks to its design, the camera lens, flash, headphone port, speakers and sensors haven’t been covered up.
