The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 officially entered the winner’s circle in the annals of American racing history this weekend when it took the checkered flag for the GTD class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Virginia International Raceway.

The Huracan didn’t just win, though: it dominated. It topped the leader boards during the practice sessions, took pole position, and beat the rest of the field to the finish line on race day.

Factory-supported GT3 Junior driver Madison Snow, just hours after competing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race at the same track, started the headline event from pole position for his class. He lead the race over the course of a double stint, fending off the advances from two Audi R8 LMS challengers, before handing the wheel to his Paul Miller Racing teammate Bryan Sellers, who took it for the remaining hour across the finish line.

Though this marks the first victory for the new Huracan GT3 in America, it’s not the first it has achieved worldwide. Earlier this month, Barwell Motorsport took its fourth victory this season in the British GT Championship. This past June, Orange 1 Team Lazarus took the checkered flag in the International GT Open race at Paul Ricard in France. And in April, the Grasser Racing Team won the ADAC GT Masters race at Oschersleben in Germany.

Those are just a few of the trophies already claimed by drivers in the Huracan GT3, and as competitive as the class can be, we doubt they’ll be the last.
