After being reborn from Fisker Automotive’s ashes, Karma wants to learn from the previous company’s mistakes.

While the Revero still looks crisp and modern after all these years (Fisker unveiled it in 2011),  Karma Automotive updated its underpinnings in order to keep it relevant in today’s world. The model still comes with the 260 hp General Motors-sourced four-pot engine, but now includes a 6.6 kW onboard charger, larger batteries and a more advanced solar panel.

But even so, Karma can’t survive with only one aging model in its line-up, even if it’s aimed at affluent individuals, which is why the Chinese-owned company intends to expand its offer after the dust settles down.

In an interview with CarBuzz, when asked about future vehicles (including full electrification of the Revero) Jim Taylor, the Chief Revenue Officer at Karma Automotive, suggested that the company needs to concentrate on the business at hand before thinking about the future, but admits that Karma is currently studying “what other markets make business sense”. And yes, that includes SUVs:

“It’s a large part of the (luxury) segment, it’s popular, and all of our competitors doing it, so that means it’s logical. It’s an obvious choice given where the market is going.”

A SUV borrowing the Revero’s style cues should look stunning, but don’t expect it to appear anytime soon. Not before Karma’s current plan proofs to be the right choice, anyway.
