Dark Knight Fan Creates Secret Bat Garage To House Car Collection

When purchasing or renovating a house, there’s one thing a petrol head will always think about, the garage. Most are happy with a simple two car garage but for one Australian, that wasn’t anywhere near enough so he took inspiration from The Dark Knight to create a real-life Bat Garage.

While renovating the property, the owner approached the architects at Molecule about somewhere to house his collection of cars. As the house itself was perfectly sited on the property, designers decided against adding a large external garage to the house, opting instead to go underground to create a secret garage.

After the entire garden was excavated and a massive hole in front of the house dug, construction on the garage itself commenced with inspiration taken directly from The Dark Knight. A nearly identical illuminated ceiling was created alongside high-gloss floors and parking for the owners Aston Martin DBS, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Maserati GranCabrio.

Once complete, builders hid the garage under the new garden and a large tennis court. To access the garage, a portion of the tennis court lifts up to reveal a hidden ramp that runs from the property’s boundary into the real-world Bat Garage.

Talk about living the dream.

The story of a bat cave made from bat guano to protect several very cheap vintage Japanese motorcycles, a workbench, and roll around toolbox.
We rented a house in a suburb with its two car garage facing the street. When the garage door was open this allowed all the contents to be viewed by various miscreant adults and teenagers typically walking by on way to grocery and beer/cigarette stores. I found four intact 1970s looking interior room doors discarded in the trash. I used salvaged hinges (not proper door hinges but junk hinges) to link the doors together in pairs to form a type of standing screen when just sitting on the floor. The two screens were then placed inside the garage door in the second bay not occupied by wife’s cheap Hyundai 4dr. Had enough room to lean garden tools etc up against the door assemblies and still shut the garage door. Ergo working on and storing motorcycles out of view of locals. When the garage door was open, from behind the screens I could bend down and use the empty door knob holes to look out at the street if local teenagers were fighting eachother as was common at that time. Then in front of the wife’s car I had a stand up air compressor which I covered in the gaudiest looking, grandmother approved flower print blanket. This appeared like a stored piece of furniture when the car was out of the garage.
I didn’t have a tennis court with the hidden ramp but it kept my equipment secure and out of the inquisitive eyes….

This is old. I’ve seen this presented on Discovery (or a similar channel) 3-4 years ago.

This guy must spend a lot of time in my head. It’s eerily similar to what I want down to the colour of the house. Now to wait for my bank account to join the vision…
