Future Models From Mercedes-Benz Could Become Personal Assistants

Future models from Mercedes-Benz could act as personal assistants and carry out mundane tasks their owners don’t want to, according to Dr Dieter Zetsche.

While speaking with Autocar at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, the chairman of Daimler’s board of directors said that in the short term, models from Mercedes-Benz will be able to find parking spaces. In the future, they could drive around autonomously doing chores such as taking the kids to school.

“We’ve already begun testing community-based parking in Stuttgart together with our partners at Bosch. It works using car sensors that can find empty spaces along a road and then share the information with the Mercedes back-end database. That information is then shared with other Mercedes cars,” Zetsche said of the firm’s parking technologies.

Zetsche went on to say that Mercedes-Benz models of the future will focus heavily on the comfort of occupants and be able to improve your health.

“It’s our goal that a passenger gets out of a Mercedes in better condition than when they got in. The car will use its sensors to monitor the health and wellbeing of passengers, and then adjust settings to improve your situation and blood pressure,” he said.

While it isn’t yet known when we could see features like these come to fruition, massive technological changes like these can be expected across the industry in the coming decade.
