Fast and Furious director Justin Lin has signed on to, ahem, steer the upcoming Hot Wheels film.

Lin, who directed the third, fourth and sixth instalments in the Fast and Furious franchise as well as Star Trek Beyond, will develop and produce the Hot Wheels movie through Perfect Storm Entertainment.

The rights to the film are owned by Legendary Entertainment and when it’s produced, it will be distributed by Universal. Don’t expect to see the film at your local cinema any time soon however, as Variety reports that Hot Wheels doesn’t yet have a writer – so no script exists. Consequently, it is suggested that the film won’t be Lin’s next project.

Since being launched in 1968, Hot Wheels has gone on to become the world’s best selling toy according to Mattel. In the past 48 years, over five billion Hot Wheels branded models have been built.
