After expanding its product portfolio in every which direction it possibly could, Mini is scaling things back again. The Coupe and Roadster are long gone, and we’re not expecting the Paceman to stick around much longer, either. But if BMW did decide to renew that model for another generation, this is probably what it would look like.

Introduced in 2012, the Paceman is a three-door crossover based closely on the Countryman. It’s based on the same platform, offers the same powertrain options, and looks mostly the same – only with a more rakish roofline and two fewer doors.

That has put it in a rather obscure niche that hasn’t made the Paceman one of Mini’s more successful models. So we’re not expecting this one to resurface based on the new Countryman just revealed last week.

But if the powers that be in Munich did decide to give the oddball retro crossover coupe a new lease on life, it’d likely closely resemble the images you see here, rendered by Theophilus Chin. We just wouldn’t recommend holding your breath on this one.
