Tesla has recalled roughly 11,000 examples of the Model X because of potential issues with the second-row seats.

During internal testing, the Californian automaker discovered that seat cables were incorrectly adjusted. Consequently, the left seat cannot be locked in an upright position and in the event of a crash, could suddenly move forward.

Tesla says those potentially affected were built between October 28, 2016 and August 16, 2017 and that about 3 per cent of the Model X units being recalled are expected to have the issue.

There have been no reports of issues or accidents relating to the problem and Tesla will provide repair services at its dealerships. Alternatively, owners will be able to contact a Tesla mobile repair unit to carry out the necessary fix.
