Lexus Drops Another LF-1 Concept Teaser Ahead Of Detroit Unveiling

The Lexus LF-1 concept will arrive at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show in January to preview the automaker’s new flagship SUV.

In a previous teaser, we saw a little bit of its sloped rear end, which features a continuous light strip hugging the tailgate as well as some of the rear bumper and fenders.

We also know that the LF-1 was designed in Southern California at the CALTY design studio, and that it will represent the next step in the Japanese automaker’s current design language.

This latest teaser shows a partially lit front fascia, with pointy and aggressive-looking LED daytime running lights and a backlit badge in the middle of the grille, which may turn out to be just as massive as the one on the all-new LS saloon.

The LF-1 will be unveiled on January 15, at approximately 8:35 AM EST (1:35 PM GMT) in Detroit, and the entire event will be streamed online here.

that’s why I perfer BMW or VW over Lexus… eccentric is one thing… i don’t like the lexus lines / shapes

    • Tumbi Mtika

Looks pretty good. I’d take it over the Q7 and Cayenne.

    • Tumbi Mtika

      Touareg*

      • Christian

Well ehhh, THAT’s SEXUAL HARASSMENT SIR”

    • Leconte Dave

And we get the ugly Atlas in North America

  • That’s one angry eyes. Would be cool if future Lexus has that kind of lights when they start it.

  • Craig

The three-row version of the Lexus LX570 starts at $91,175 and can top $100,000. So I assume this NEW flagship SUV will be even above that. Yikes!

    • Leconte Dave

      I think it’s smaller

  • Nordschleife

I feel like this could easily be a teaser for the next Nissan Murano or a Nissan concept. I am not complaining though because I like welcome lighting.

  • U8INIT

All I see is praying mantis…

  • Puddingpopper

    Dear Lexus,
    Please stop.
    Everybody

    • El-diablo

I think they could actually add a bit more, they seem a bit reserved

      • Puddingpopper

Time will tell, get to see it up gross and personal soon

  • Marty

Do people really need even more pointy and aggressive SUVs? That just makes the owner look like an insecure teenager.

    • botornot387

Well they do make Acura’s for those that have no character or style and just want to blend into backgrounds LOLOLOL

      • Marty

Well, if you have to be pointy and aggressive to be noticed, your “character or style” is probably uninteresting to anyone but yourself.

  • Knotmyrealname

Lear called. They want their logo back.

  • That looks mean….

  • Tumbi Mtika

    That looks evil.

  • botornot387

    the lights look like swans…

  • TheBelltower

WTF? Toyota will lull you to sleep with boringness, and Lexus is the nightmare.

  • They re coming up with ANOTHER crossover?

  • Kash

So it’s gonna be the year of the light animations, got it…

  • MarketAndChurch

I love that they’re embracing Japanese art with this concept.

  • Ary Wisesa

I can’t wait to see it. I bet its design will be much more polarizing than ever, which is good in my opinion. What’s the point of just playing safe and just become anonymous and ubiquitous? Some people just can’t handle difference, and that’s OK.

  • DM

I don’t get the Flagship part, because of the LX. This looks and sounds like something to go up against the new Q8 maybe? Looks like a coupe SUV

  • getoffme

My gut feeling is it would be RWD.
