New Nissan Leaf Scores More Than 10,000 Orders In Europe

Nissan was pleasantly surprised with the customer interest on the new electric Leaf as more than 10,000 people in Europe have already placed an order.

It’s been two months since the company has opened the order books for the second generation Leaf, with Nissan reporting a strong and consistent demand for it across European markets.

“We are delighted by the tangible customer interest we have received for the new Leaf as it confirms the leadership Nissan has in electric vehicles,” said Gareth Dunsmore, Director, Electric Vehicles, Nissan Europe. “However, the new Leaf is not just our new generation electric vehicle, but also the icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility in Europe.”

During the same time point back in 2010, the original Leaf had just a few hundreds of orders, as EVs were still an unproven technology. Nissan expects orders to further grow as the new Leaf starts to hit dealerships from February 2018 in Europe.

The new Nissan Leaf offers 147hp (150PS) from its electric motor and an official driving range of 235 miles according to the NEDC, thanks to its larger 40kWh battery pack. Nissan has also added features like the semi-autonomous ProPilot system, the e-Pedal, a seven-inch infotainment system and the Intelligent Around View Monitor to the new Leaf.

I think you mean KM not miles.

  • Because if you think about it, there aren’t many proper small size electric car on the market. That is why Chevrolet Bolt could be nice alternative to Leaf and give customer more choices.

in europe the leaf is a big car, not a city for for european cities.
small city electric car made by renault/nissan is the renault zoe.
Chevrolet made funny looking electric car to compete with the look of the old leaf but the new leaf looks like any other car.
let’s see how long it is going to take nissan sell and deliver more than the orders of tesla model 3

      • Really? I mean I weren’t saying they were that small but it is a 5 door hatchback that we see everyday in Europe. Compare to Model S which executive saloon with matching price tag.

Zoe is very good car at that price point but I prefer Leaf because you can also take it to Motorway with comfort. Zoe would be excellent if you use it as city runabout though.

Bolt design is not for everyone but by the spec alone, that car has potential. And if Chevrolet decide to enter European market, they should bring those.

I can’t wait to see Model 3 being tested too. Tesla is still remained the big shark in electric car industry. Even though it’s still quite expensive in US.
