Get Schooled On How To Drag Race The 840HP Dodge Demon

Plenty of Dodge Hellcat owners learned firsthand that having 707 horsepower at their disposal is probably too much for the road. With even more power, owners of the Dodge Demon will probably face a similar issue, which is where Bob Bondurant’s new drag racing course comes into play.

This isn’t the first time Dodge/SRT has teamed up with the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. A few years ago, the driving school became the official program for the automaker, allowing owners to explore the limits of their Vipers and Hellcats.

Now, Bondurant has expanded its offerings to include a one-day drag racing class featuring the manic 840-hp Dodge Demon. The class, as usual, offers both classroom instruction and on-track performance driving, which for the Demon will be on a drag strip. Owners of a 2018 Demon receive the class at no extra charge.

Individuals that own other Dodge/SRT vehicles, who, by the way, already get a full day of the class for free, can pay $999 to upgrade to two full days of training. The best part, though, is that non-Dodge owners can also take part in the drag racing course for $1,999. The class doesn’t just involve the Demon, it also features the Challenger SRT Hellcat, Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody, and 485-hp Challenger SRT 392.

The new drag racing course will be held at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, which is an official NHRA drag strip and one of Bondurant’s facilities. The drag strip is located in Chandler, Arizona. The course will see participants get schooled in drag racing for two hours and then getting 22 single-lane runs on the actual strip.

The school is a no-brainer for any Hellcat or Demon owner, as the muscle cars really do have too much power for the majority of drivers. Like Tim Kuniskis, Head of FCA’s Passenger Cars puts it, “with great power comes responsibility, so we want our enthusiasts to respect the full capability of their machines.”
