Iacocca Edition Ford Mustang Coming Up For Auction

We’ve seen a whole lot of special-edition Ford Mustangs over the years, but the Iacocca edition has to have been one of the most special – or at very least the sleekest. And this one is coming up for auction.

Launched in 2009 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the original Mustang’s debut, the Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang paid tribute to Lee Iacocca – the renowned automotive executive widely credited with the pony car’s creation and subsequent CEO of Chrysler.

The special edition featured unique coachwork designed by Michael Leone (who also designed the Eleanor Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds) and hand-crafted by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, giving it a more streamlined look. It also featured sunken headlights, blanked-out rear quarter windows, 20-inch wheels, Goodyear Eagle tires, diamond-stitched black leather interior upholstery, a signed and numbered dashboard plaque, and special badging inside and out.

Only 45 examples were made, all of them sold exclusively through Galpin Ford in southern California – one of the largest and most famous Ford dealers in the world. This was the 20th of those 45 made, carrying the VIN # 1ZVHT82H395123560. Making it even more tempting is the optional supercharged version of the 4.6-liter V8 with which this one was fitted, giving it 400 horsepower (instead of 320) to send through a five-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels.

With less than 500 miles on the odometer, this very special tribute ‘Stang is slated to feature at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction in West Palm Beach, Florida, set to take place at the South Florida Fairgrounds this April 12-15.
