Do you have the need? The need for speed green? If so, Ford has the color for you.

Just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day, Ford has announced the 2019 Mustang will be offered with a slightly ridiculous sounding color called Need for Green. Described as a “bold and modern” hue that is “hard to miss,” the Need for Green paint job will become available this summer across the Mustang lineup.

Designed to appeal to everyone from leprechauns to paying human customers, the Need for Green color is the latest addition to the 2019 Mustang lineup which also includes the Mustang California Special and the Mustang Bullitt. The latter model is also available in green but it’s a Dark Highland Green which mimics the car used in the classic movie.

While it’s a little hard to get excited about a color, Ford color and materials manager, Barbara Whalen, said “This is a color Mustang fans will celebrate because of its confident and youthful attitude.” She went on to say “Need for Green is vibrant and jumps out at you, giving Mustang owners a look that definitely stands out in a crowd.” We’re sure countless Mustang fans will be celebrating Need for Green tomorrow, perhaps even with a green beer or two.

Since the color will be available across the Mustang lineup, we can expect it to be offered on models powered by the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 310 hp (231 kW) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque. The color will also be offered on the Mustang GT which has a 5.0-liter V8 developing 460 hp (343 kW) and 420 lb-ft (568 Nm) of torque.
