2019 Ford Mustang Gets New “Need For Green” Color Option

Do you have the need? The need for speed green? If so, Ford has the color for you.

Just in time for Saint Patrick’s Day, Ford has announced the 2019 Mustang will be offered with a slightly ridiculous sounding color called Need for Green. Described as a “bold and modern” hue that is “hard to miss,” the Need for Green paint job will become available this summer across the Mustang lineup.

Designed to appeal to everyone from leprechauns to paying human customers, the Need for Green color is the latest addition to the 2019 Mustang lineup which also includes the Mustang California Special and the Mustang Bullitt. The latter model is also available in green but it’s a Dark Highland Green which mimics the car used in the classic movie.

While it’s a little hard to get excited about a color, Ford color and materials manager, Barbara Whalen, said “This is a color Mustang fans will celebrate because of its confident and youthful attitude.” She went on to say “Need for Green is vibrant and jumps out at you, giving Mustang owners a look that definitely stands out in a crowd.” We’re sure countless Mustang fans will be celebrating Need for Green tomorrow, perhaps even with a green beer or two.

Since the color will be available across the Mustang lineup, we can expect it to be offered on models powered by the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 310 hp (231 kW) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque. The color will also be offered on the Mustang GT which has a 5.0-liter V8 developing 460 hp (343 kW) and 420 lb-ft (568 Nm) of torque.

In this very moment I just fell in like with updates….😋

    The Highland green is better.

These Mustangs are good looking cars, much more appealing to the eye than the new Camaros.

    • SteersUright

True, but then you also have to overlook chassis dynamics, weight, track capability, and other metrics. To me, the mustang is prettier but the Camaro isnt bad looking, tts just impossible to see out of. Outside of that, I’d buy a Camaro in a heartbeat over a Mustang as I always like the feel of the lighter and more agile car.

      • Six Thousand Times

Since I have to drive it daily, I went for being able to see. I also liked the interior quality of the Mustang better.

  • Grumpy

Not feeling it. Too solid, and not enough depth. The only green i liked so far is Java green (BMW & Audi Exclusive). Green is hard to do right.

  • Six_Tymes

Looks good, but still prefer the previous body style. this current from a side view looks much too long. Plus its too heavy. I would rather own a Camaro instead. I do hope the next mustang is better looking than this, and weighs less.

I like it alot. But I wish they’d buy some of whatever green Audi is using on the new RS5!!

    • Six Thousand Times

      That is a nice green.

This color will look great all smashed up curbside somewhere, IN THE WULD!

Color? Photography? Yep, Ford has a crush on Porsche. Soon it will be doodling it’s name with Porsche on the end, just to hear the ring of it…
